Cutters Way and the Cane Cutters

That does sound a bit like a 60's rock band, doesn't it?

In fact Cutters Way is a recent housing development in the Bli Bli area, bordering onto Petrie Creek here, a major tributary of the Maroochy River.

Today's morning walk took me on a very pleasant circumnavigation of the suburb, keeping company as ever with the early morning dog walkers.

Entering the suburb, you encounter a rather striking statue of a cane cutter, honouring the historical role of the sugar cane industry in the district. There's still a bit of it going on, though an awful lot of the cane fields are now housing estates.
